Malaria

Malaria is a serious and sometimes fatal disease caused by a parasite. It is transmitted by mosquitoes and occurs primarily in tropical countries.

Malaria is transmitted when an infected mosquito bites an uninfected person. The malaria parasites enter the person's bloodstream and travel to the liver. As the parasites mature, they leave the liver and infect red blood cells.

Symptoms of malaria include:

High fever

chills

Flu-like illness

Malaria can be fatal if not diagnosed and treated quickly.
